Clare Short has revived her bid to ban the Sun's Page Three, claiming the topless pictures are "porn".

"A survey of Sun readers' wives and daughters showed that they believed it degraded them," she said.

"We need to push back the tide of nakedness. You can't take it out of the whole of society but I think you can take it out of the mainstream."The Sun derides her campaign. "Page Three girls are intelligent, vibrant young women who appear in the Sun out of choice and because they enjoy the job," says its editorial.

"Unsurprisingly, millions of our readers - men and women - enjoy looking at them. If Ms Short ran our world it would be time to move to Mars."
