Mandarins face end of 'job for life'
Reform of the civil service will mean an end of "jobs for life" following the introduction of four-year posts for most positions, reports the Times.
Sir Andrew Turnbull, the Cabinet secretary, has decided that all 3,000 senior civil servants should be given limited posts to encourage greater movement in and out of Whitehall.A Cabinet Office internal consultation document indicates that the civil service will expect 100 redundancies a year.
