The insurance company Axa has become the latest corporation to switch call centre jobs from the UK to India, it was confirmed yesterday.

Around 700 jobs are to go across Britain, and will be moved to Bangalore.

The Abbey building society has also announced that it is to cut 400 jobs from its offices in Warrington, Derby and Bradford.
