Pilots set to be in charge of air marshals
The government is preparing to issue a set of rules governing the use of air marshals on flights to the United States.
Transec, the Department for Transport's security division, is finalising the rules to satisfy concerns raised by airlines and pilots. These will confirm that the captain will always be informed when there is a sky marshal on board his aircraft.
The captain will also remain in overall command.
