Cabinet Office altered Hutton report

The Cabinet Office changed an official report to disguise the extent to which the Hutton inquiry has encouraged open government, reports today's Guardian.

The report, published last month, highlighted the progress the government has made in implementing open government.

At first it highlighted the importance of Lord Hutton's release of confidential documents during his inquiry, but it was redrafted before publication to remove positive references to Hutton as an example of good practice.
