Security services give stay alert message
The Home Office and Metropolitan Police yesterday combined to give a message of vigilance to the public over the Christmas period.
People should be alert to but not alarmed by the prospect of a terrorist attack, the authorities said.
Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir John Stevens said Britain's level of alert was raised last month with "good reason" but that there was no specific threat.
