MPs slam ministers over credit cards
Government departments are to receive strong criticism from a committee of MPs today for failing to regulate the credit card industry.An interim report on credit cards, to be published by the Treasury select committee, will attack the Department of Trade and Industry for failing to clamp down on misleading adverts by credit companies and questionable offers from lenders.The Office of Fair Trading will also be criticised for failing to eliminate dubious marketing tactics such as lenders sending out unsolicited offers relating to new credit card launches.
