Britain is being blighted by high crime, poverty and poor productivity, according to a Cabinet Office audit of Britain.

The report by the Strategy Unit set out the challenges facing Britain over the next 10 years.

The report will be followed on Friday by the launch by the government of "Prospectus", a document which will aim to strengthen the policy consultations in the Labour Party and outline political choices that have to be made.
