Gibraltar quarantine sparks row
UK-Spanish relations suffered a blow yesterday as Britain reacted angrily to Madrid's decision to close its border with Gibraltar.
The public health move was designed to prevent the spread of a virulent stomach virus which had struck down more than 500 passengers of cruise ship Aurora, which was docked on The Rock.
Foreign secretary Jack Straw condemned the "unnecessary and unwelcome" decision.
