The prime minister has called on the United States to remove its illegal tariffs on foreign steel.

Tony Blair told the House of Commons that the Bush administration must accept a ruling by the World Trade Organisation against the 30 per cent tariffs.

"We believe it is important that that ruling is complied with and these steel tariffs lifted," he said.
