The Treasury's prediction record over the past four years has been about average for the European Union, according to a new study.

An analysis of European Commission figures by Chris Huhne, economic spokesman for the European Liberal Democrats, shows British forecasts between 1999 and 2002 were in the middle of the pack in terms of accuracy.
