Ten Labour MPs have signed a Commons motion criticising the Pop Idol judge, Simon Cowell, for being too cruel to pop star wannabes.

"I thought the Labour Party was supposed to be the party of free enterprise. I'm sorry that my earnings upset them," Cowell responded.
