Hundreds of protesters took to the streets yesterday in a bid to make their voice heard against the US president.

Whilst the majority of the protests, organised by groups including the Stop the War Coalition, Socialist Workers and the Green Party, were peaceful, police scuffled with some demonstrators in the Mall.

Thousands more demonstrators are expected to join a series of protests in the Capital today.

Over 4,000 police officers will be on the streets of London to control the march down Whitehall and past parliament.

Some reports suggest over 100,000 "Stop Bush" protesters could take part in today's demonstration.

Meanwhile in the North East the people of Sedgefield are preparing for the presidential cavalcade to roll into town tomorrow.
