Hundreds of police officers and secret service agents last night made their final preparations for the arrival of Tony Blair and his guest, George W Bush, in the prime minister's constituency of Sedgefield.

The two leaders are expected to lunch at the Dun Cow Inn, where the president is likely to break the restrictions of his "security bubble" for the first time by meeting some local people.
