The BBC broadcaster Kirsty Wark has admitted that the panel which chose the design for the Scottish parliament building was more concerned about securing a "great building" than about cost.

The Newsnight presenter who sat on the panel told the inquiry into the building's cost: "First of all we were looking for someone with a great vision for the parliament."
