Conservative conference review
Alleged plots to oust Iain Duncan Smith from the Tory leadership continue to take precedence over new policy announcements at the party's conference in Blackpool.
The FT reports that dissident MPs will meet secretly next week in a bid to engineer a leadership election.
Tomorrow's speech will be a "defining moment" in Duncan Smith's career, the Telegraph reports allies as saying.
The Times claims to have "exposed" a plot to unseat Duncan Smith by detailing the behind the scenes manoeuvring against him.
The Independent claims a letter by rebel Conservative MPs will be circulated, canvassing support for a leadership challenge.
And the Mirror identifies former minister John Maples as one of the rebels accused of masterminding a plot.
Yesterday the official conference focus was on crime and immigration, with shadow home secretary Oliver Letwin outlining proposals for 40,000 more police officers and an offshore asylum centres.
He said his plans would save £1.4 billion which could be used to put extra police on the streets.
Former frontbencher Archie Norman put the spotlight on the declining Tory membership - saying the party was in a "parlous state".
