Brown and CBI in tax dispute

The CBI's claim that the business tax burden has risen by £54 billion since Labour came to power has been rejected by Gordon Brown.

A Treasury spokesman dismissed the CBI's report as "misleading, double-counting and loose analysis" which "short-changed" its members.

"Their analysis is not going to win any Nobel prizes," he added.
