Public backing for NHS reforms
The broad thrust of the government's reforms of the NHS are supported by the public, according to a Populus poll for the Times.
More than half the public and 64 per cent of swing or floating voters say they would be more likely to vote Labour if it concentrated on "delivering real improvements in the NHS".
Three quarters of voters agree that "giving the best hospitals more power to manage their own budgets and set their own priorities will help to improve the NHS".
