Coalition allies confident of UN success
Britain and the United States look set for a narrow victory in the United Nations security council on a resolution that would convert the coalition army in Iraq into a UN-approved multinational force.
Diplomats predicted that 10 of the 15 members would vote for the resolution, but claimed that China, France, Germany, Russia and Syria may abstain.
