Asylum rules toughened

The government has unveiled a new package of anti-asylum measures.

Under the proposals, asylum seekers will have only one chance of appeal and will be sentenced to two years in prison if they destroy their travel papers.

The new measures will form the basis of new asylum legislation to be introduced in the Queen's Speech next month.
