DTI's 'good intentions' under scrutiny
In an assessment of the work of the Department of Trade and Industry, Dan Roberts and Jean Eaglesham says Patricia Hewitt is finding it more difficult to deregulate and simplify the plethora of initiatives and projects managed by her department.
Meanwhile, the latest Research and Development scoreboard from the DTI, shows that despite new fiscal incentives, UK industry still lags behind its international competitors in the amount of money spent on innovation.
