Channel 4's drama, "The deal", charting the turbulent relationship between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown receives critical plaudits in today's press.

The Times calls it "absorbing, grippingly paced with thoughtful and expressive dialogue".

Although the Guardian says it was "highly entertaining" it points out that it was also a "hatchet job" which "Blair could probably have done without".

The Independent's reviewer concludes that it was a "wonderfully gripping cocktail of political nostalgia and historical speculation".

The Daily Mail calls it "fascinating" while the Daily Mirror says it was "an invigorating, absorbingly rich pocket history of modern British politics".
