Lords reform plans stalled
The government will this week announce plans to remove hereditary peers from the House of Lords.
Birth-right peers are to be replaced by appointed members under plans to be revealed by the lord chancellor Lord Falconer on Thursday.
Further reforms, including democratisation, are to be kicked into the long grass by offering "a long-term consultation" reports the Times.
