Members of the public should be given a chance to spark debates in parliament, according to Peter Hain.

Interviewed in today's Times, the leader of the Commons says: "We have got to take Westminster politics out of Westminster and into the country.

"We have got to aim to take the political focus out of the television and radio studios and back into the Commons. The first part is actually to find out what people think."
