Union leader calls on Blair to quit

The next leader of the Transport and General Workers Union has called on Tony Blair to resign and apologise to the country for taking Britain into the Iraq war.

Tony Woodley said: "If I was the prime minister of our country, misled by Bush or misleading with no weapons of mass destruction, with the Iraqi people clearly telling us that they don't want us there with innocent deaths of civilians and British soldiers alike, I would turn round and review my position and apologise to this country because we shouldn't be there. It is as simple as that."
