Fire fighters leader Andy Gilchrist has re-opened the debate on trade unions' links with the Labour Party by commenting that his members were keen to debate the issue.

The Fire Brigades Union general secretary said that he was coming under pressure to grant a ballot on the official link with Labour following a bitter industrial dispute.
