Writing in today's FT, Robert Shrimsley says that the Channel 4 series, The West Wing, is "how politics should be."

He says: "The central characters are clever, funny, glamorous and serious.

"The staff of the West Wing spend most of their time in earnest debate thrashing out difficult moral issues as they stalk the corridors. Indeed if only the corridors were longer who knows whether any problem would be beyond their grasp."
