Hopes rise of Lockerbie deal with Libya
Diplomats are reported to be optimistic of achieving an "early settlement" in talks with Tripoli over Libya claiming responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing of 1998.
Under the deal Colonel Gaddafi's regime would also pay around £1.6 billion in compensation to the families of the victims, enabling sanctions to be lifted from around the controversial state.
