The Liberal Democrats have tabled a motion for next month's party conference to axe the Queen as head of state, according to Andrew Pierce's column in the Times.

The proposal has been put forward by the Liberal Democrat Youth and Students Group. Party leader Charles Kennedy is said to be unamused.
