Fire deaths increase

Conservative MPs have accused the government of inaction over fire deaths, after figures revealed a six per cent increase in 2002.

"I recently discovered that the government's target for cutting the number of fire-related deaths in the home has been relaxed to 20 per cent and the target for meeting this put back from 2004 to 2010," said shadow deputy prime minister David Davis.
