Consultants to vote on latest contract

The year long conflict between the government and English hospital consultants moved a step closer to resolution yesterday with the news that the British Medical Association is to ballot its members on their latest contract offer.

But doctors' leaders said they were sill unhappy about having to do four hours overtime for the NHS before being able to work privately.
