Jowell calls for media 'literacy'

The public needs to become more "media literate" in order to filter the information they receive, Tessa Jowell has said. Claiming that subtexts and "hidden agendas" often lead to distortion, the culture secretary said the country needs to be able to distinguish fact from media "editorialising and spin".
