The Conservatives have spent more than £100,000 since Iain Duncan Smith was elected leader to teach him how to "walk, talk and look the part".

Image experts have devoted hours to helping him master his gestures, control the frog in his throat and learn how to speak effectively in public, reports today's Telegraph.

The Tory leader has been taught to imitate the way president George W Bush works the crowd when he arrives for a speech: a firm handshake, a smile and a hand on the elbow.
