MPs call for end to BAA monopoly

The Commons transport committee yesterday demanded that the government breaks BAA's monopoly on the UK's main airports.

It described the current structure as "deeply flawed" and warned against situating a new hub airport at Cliffe on the north Kent coast.

The MPs urged the government to expand capacity at existing airports rather than look to new sites.
