The NHS is not doing enough to retain and recruit older, more experienced nurses to overcome staff shortages, a report says today.

The report, published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, says that more flexible working hours and improved pension arrangements would encourage nurses aged over 50 to stay in practice.
