BAA, the airports operator, has been forced to defend giving MPs free parking worth over £1 million a year at its seven UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted.

Responding to criticism from the Stop Stansted Expansion group, a BAA spokesman said the free passes were not designed to influence MPs.
