An alleged Real IRA bombmaker has been arrested by Israeli authorities near the headquarters of Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority.

News of the arrest came shortly before Ariel Sharon arrived in London last night for a three-day visit that includes a private dinner with Tony Blair tonight.

The Israeli prime minister is expected to call on Britain to stop dealing with Arafat, whom Israel believes has "encouraged" terrorism.
