Ministers are being pressed to introduce a supermarket regulator to crack down on alleged unfair practices by the retail chains.

The pressure, from the Country Land and Business Association, follows evidence that a code of practice has failed to deliver any improvements in the behaviour of the big four supermarkets towards suppliers.
