Bank chief warns on euro mortgage move
The Bank of England's chief economist, Charles Bean, warned MPs yesterday that moving towards a greater use of long term fixed rate mortgages could cause greater instability in the British economy.
"You would certainly have to move interest rates more than you would otherwise have to do to have the same impact on demand," he told the Treasury select committee.
