Wilson suggests fixed term ministers

Ministers should be allowed to remain in post for the full length of a parliament if they are doing a good job, former energy minister Brian Wilson says today.

Writing in the Telegraph, he argues that a ministerial appointment should be seen as a contract for up to five years.

"The result would be a team of extremely expert and effective ministers with all the benefits which should flow from that for whatever section of society or the economy they are dealing with."
