IPPR: Stay out of euro

The IPPR will today say that Britain should stay out the single currency.

The influential think tank believes that the UK should keep the pound until the shortcomings in the eurozone's economic and fiscal framework have been resolved.

Meanwhile, Downing Street has said that "intensive discussions" are continuing between Gordon Brown and the prime minister over the much anticipated statement on Britain's prospects for joining the single currency.
