Scotland: Labour sees off SNP threat
The Labour Party in Scotland has been forecast to end up with 51 seats - five fewer than in 1999 and short of an overall majority.
The Liberal Democrats, who formed a coalition with Labour in the last Scottish Executive, are expected to win 16 seats, one fewer than last time.
The SNP was expected to lose a total of eight seats as it saw its share of the vote fall.
The Scottish Tories secured three constituency seats - putting the party back on the map.
The Scottish Socialists look set to win up to seven seats in total, while the Greens could take five seats.
The other big winners of the night were independents.
