Spending boost 'fails to cut truancy rates'
The £650 million spent on anti-truancy measures has had no effect, according to the Conservatives.
An analysis of official figures by shadow education secretary Damian Green found that the number of pupils playing truant has risen by 15 per cent since 1997.
