Church cools on gay marriages
Today's Telegraph reports that the archbishop of Canterbury and his fellow Anglican leaders have distanced themselves from blessing gay marriages.
In a pastoral letter, they said that there was "no theological consensus...therefore we, as a body, cannot support the authorisation of such rites".
However, according to a new biography of the archbishop serialised in today's Times, Dr Williams privately believes that faithful gay partnerships should be accepted by all Christians who endorse contraception.
