Newspapers and the press complaints commission are set to come under heavy criticism from MPs over media intrusion.

An investigation by the culture, media and sport select committee is expected to call on the industry watchdog to "beef up" self-regulation.

The committee's findings are likely to be published after MPs return from their Whitsun recess on June 3.
