The government is seriously considering organising a welcome home parade for British troops returning from Iraq, John Reid has said

The leader of the Commons told MPs: "An event for armed forces personnel returning from duty in the Gulf is certainly a possibility. It is under consideration. It's too early for me to say when this might be appropriate or what exact form it might take."
