Britain and the United States have closed their embassies in Saudi Arabia in response to reports that new terrorist attacks are imminent.

With America having failed to capture Osama bin Laden, his deputy Al Zawahiri and the Taliban leader Mullah Omar, the security services are concerned at the heightened state of alert.

"As long as these figureheads are alive, recruits will flock to the cause," a British official said.
