BNP targets council elections
The British National Party is preparing to field a record 221 candidates in the council elections.
Last May it won three seats in Burnley and two more in by-elections in Blackburn and Calderdale. Next month it hopes to take at least 12 seats in Labour heartlands.
A report out today will say that the government's policy of targeting housing cash on individual white or Asian dominated estates helped stoke racial tensions in the north of England.
