Duncan Smith bullish on election prospects

An upbeat Iain Duncan Smith has told today's Telegraph that the Conservatives are on course to win the next general election.

Although he warned that there is no "magic wand" available to cure the party's problems, Duncan Smith said: "Put money on it. We are going to win the next election, I absolutely believe that.

"I am not bullshitting. It's right there. This government is on the edge of complete failure. I promise you."

British politics was "on the cusp" of a change that would see Labour's support collapse and voters taking an interest in a Tory alternative, the Conservative leader said.

"I never have felt more certain that that prize is just an arm's stretch away from us," he said.
