Unison seeks record pay claim

Unison, the public service union, submitted the biggest ever equal-value pay claim yesterday, which could see 70,000 teaching assistants receive a 40 per cent pay rise.

The union is claiming up to £10 million in pay increases and back pay for 990 teaching assistants in Lancashire. If successful the move could lead to claims from all the country's 70,000 teaching assistants.
